In Manzanillo is much safer than in any other place in Costa Rica. Manzanillo is a small fishing village where mainly two families live. The residents all know each other and watch out for each other's guests and property.
Be careful in the cities and in the more densely populated areas, such as the capital San Jose. Here there is mainly pickpocketing and robbery.
TO NOTE:
- Do not go deep into the bush to find poachers.
- Do not count bundles of money in public and do not arouse covetousness.
- Don't leave your keys and valuables unattended on the beach.
- Don't talk about how rich you are and how valuable your jewelry is, most people understand
- English well.
- Don't go swimming in the middle of the night and investigate the water with glow sticks.
Other than that, you should be fine. Pretty much all the basic safety rules for travel apply.
