Since we are in the accommodation business, we have been asked many questions from our guests. Here we have compiled the most important FAQ in a list and answered them for you!
ARE ADDITIONAL PERSONS ALLOWED?
We do not allow more people than we have beds for. If you would like to accommodate additional people, we can add an individual extra bed to the room at an additional cost of $25 per day. This request must be communicated to us prior to making the reservation so we can ensure availability. Children under 5 years of age are not counted towards the occupancy limit.
ARE PETS ALLOWED?
Yes, we allow one small dog per house.
There is a $20 fee per house for your stay.
WHO MAY USE THE POOLS?
The pool may be used equally by all guests of Pangea Lodge. This also applies to the guests of the houses Casa Blance, Casita and Casa Namasol which are not directly adjacent to the pool.
WHO SHARES THE KITCHEN WITH US?
Each house has its own kitchen. This kitchen is shared with the guests of each house. So if you reserve only one room, you share your kitchen with others. If you reserve a whole house, the kitchen will be used only by your group. The bathrooms are not shared. They are private and located in each bedroom.
HOW SAFE IS COSTA RICA AND MANZANILLO?
In Manzanillo is much safer than in any other place in Costa Rica. Manzanillo is a small fishing village where mainly two families live. The residents all know each other and watch out for each other's guests and property.
Be careful in the cities and in the more densely populated areas, such as the capital San Jose. Here there is mainly pickpocketing and robbery.
Do not go deep into the bush to find poachers.
Do not count bundles of money in public and do not arouse covetousness.
Don't leave your keys and valuables unattended on the beach.
Don't talk about how rich you are and how valuable your jewelry is, most people understand
Don't go swimming in the middle of the night and investigate the water with glow sticks.
Other than that, you should be fine. Pretty much all the basic safety rules for travel apply.
WHEN IS CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT?
Check-in starts at 2 pm. If you arrive later than 2pm, please let us know your approximate arrival time so we can receive you. It is best if you also call or text us from Puerto Viejo so we know you will be there soon. You can check out anytime before 11am. Please bring the keys to check out to us at the reception.
HOW IS THE ARRIVAL?
We are located in the center of Manzanillo. Take Ruta 32, we are the last turn on the right before you meet Maxi's. Turn right before the Super Manzanillo sign. We are 100 yards south of the bus stop on the beach at Bad Bart's.
WHAT DOES MANZANILLO OFFER?
The neighborhood is great! Everything is less than 5 minutes walk away. Manzanillo does not have an ATM at all. There are 2 stores that have almost everything you need during your stay, and several restaurants and bars are all right here in Manzanillo just steps away!
TRANSPORTATION IN MANZANILLO?
We don't have an Uber in Manzanillo. There is a cab service and we have a few tuktuks in the area. The bus is available, but since the Covid it operates on a reduced schedule. Please ask us at the front desk for information applicable to your stay. We will be happy to arrange a ride for you!
HOW DO I GET CASH?
Please note that there is no bank or ATM in Manzanillo. You should definitely get cash in advance.
You can withdraw cash from one of the two ATMs before you arrive in Puerto. The ATM by the stores in Puerto Viejo No. 2 usually has a shorter line, as it is a bit off the main street.
